Staats Announces Over $151,000 in Fire, EMS Grants Awarded to Local Departments

HARRISBURG –Rep. Craig Staats (R-Bucks) announced eight fire companies serving communities across the Bucks County were awarded over $151,000 through the Commonwealth’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
“Our local fire and EMS agencies do incredible work to protect our families, homes and businesses,” said Staats. “These grants provide important support for the equipment, training and operational needs that help keep our first responders ready when emergencies happen.”
The following departments received funding:
• Haycock Fire Company No. 1 (Quakertown) – $15,105.
• Milford Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 (Milford Square) – $16,136.
• Palisades Regional Fire Rescue (Kintnersville) – $40,136.
• Quakertown Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 (Quakertown) – $15,930.
• Richlandtown Fire Company (Richlandtown) – $15,930.
• Shelly Fire Company Inc., DBA Richland Township Fire and Rescue (Quakertown) – $15,518.
• Trumbauersville Fire Company No. 1 (Trumbauersville) – $16,136.
• West End Fire Company (Quakertown) – $16,136.
The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program was created by the Legislature and is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Funding comes from slot machine gaming proceeds, not General Fund tax revenue.
Eligible uses for the funding include facility improvements, equipment purchases, training, recruitment and retention efforts, public education and debt reduction. Fire and EMS organizations that apply and meet the program requirements receive grant support.
